AESI was organized specifically to provide biomass fueled, modular heat and power solutions for meeting customer needs. Through pursuit of turnkey biomass energy plant deployment, AESI has increased the value and utility our experience brings to development of biomass energy into traditional plants. Our combined knowledge of biomass recycling and system modularity; experienced combustion, control and steam staff and proven equipment work together to produce reliable, efficient, and economical renewable biomass power systems.

The core of our strategy is to provide smaller, modular, easy to operate and maintain systems, which satisfy emissions requirements, minimize carbon footprint, providing a green energy platform at a fraction of the cost and time to bring on line compared to the more traditional plants. Because our delivery platform is predicated on the modularity of our systems for best value, higher quality and ease of initial deployment, system redeployment is a viable option to many customers should that be required.

Our approach to the Biomass to Energy customer is based on our responsibility to use the knowledge and experiences of our assembled team, to deliver the optimal plant system, when considered over its useful life. All our component equipment uses proven technology and is supplied by world renowned leaders in the biomass energy and power industry. As such, AESI’ biomass energy plants are pre-constructed, factory disassembled into major components that can be installed at a site in a short period of time. The initial use and longevity of AESI plants are able to provide great flexibility in meeting our customer’s changing energy needs.

AESI project performance approaches have evolved to our current, efficient system planning, validation, design and installation, which is a process that supports efficiency and continuous improvement. Along this process, gaining goal clarity and alignment is key. This is why the focus of all projects is on mutual understandings of several key points which include; objectives and goals, basic elements of technology proposed, crystallizing a process for moving project forward, costs associated with forward paths, and communication.

Completion of a system validation study provides a foundation from which to issue a clear operational scope of work to provide, install and commission modular, biomass fueled energy plants, delivering heat, electricity or combination of the two. The benefits of performing in this step wise approach are multiple and we appreciate the opportunity these evaluations provide to further detail, promote and collectively develop successful approaches to biomass energy plant programs.

Superior Equipment For Project Success

The technical backbone of the AESI system is two stage combustion (a distinct gasifying of the fuel followed by secondary and tertiary stages of air introduction to two successive chambers). Gas flow velocity through the chambers and stages in the unit is quite low and residence time through the unit ranges from 1.5 to 4 seconds depending on the model, fuel and the conditions. This approach yields a very clean, consistent and complete fuel utilization process. Unlike many other biomass boilers, the AESI system renders all fuel value from the biomass, so carbon chunks, slag, clinkers and just unused fuel are non existent.

Consistent fuel preparation is the critical item in biomass plants. Biomass projects begin and end with fuel type, and availability and handling is meticulously examined. Factors such as particle size and shape can influence performance. Feed stock handling would accept single pieces up to 3 x 12 inches using a pusher feeder, however that is less complimentary for the process than a more uniform and smaller ground particle, optimally less than one inch diameter.

It is common to find biomass consuming systems which have been initially patterned after traditional solid fuel stoker units. However solid fuels are different in their behavior and benefit yet solid fuel burner manufacturers don’t sufficiently credit these distinctions with their designs.

AESI systems directly and internally volatilize the fuels in a very low oxygen content environment. The reduction of excess air and controlled temperature profiles serve to deliver lower concentrations of NOx and create a higher efficiency process overall in the unit. It is the expertise of AESI engineers in the process of two stage combustion system design and utilization that produces excellent performing systems. Our design criteria are held standard for all of our project systems.
